HEAR THE SOUND
"No manna appeared that day,
and it was never seen again.
So from that time on
the Israelites ate from the crops of
Canaan."
Joshua 5:12 NLT
"Manna was but God's provision enroute
to fruitfulness!" As those words sounded out of my mouth
they reverberated back into my spirit!
Manna was precious...
Manna was predictable...
Manna was a miracle!
...but manna at its celestial best was still only the
temporary "diet" until the fruitfulness of purpose and
productivity became their "daily bread"! The psalmist
celebrates how the Lord rained down manna calling it "the
grain of heaven". "Men ate the bread of angels!" (Psalm
78:24-25) However phenomenal it was to daily gather
your bucket full of manna, it was still intended to be
but a blessing ENROUTE to the fruitfulness God had planned
as their inheritance. The manna was part of the Lord's
mobile classroom to train His people in the centrality of
the Word of God in their lives. (Deut. 8:2-3).
On the day the manna stopped it was not the end but the
beginning! Wanderers would now become warriors.
Sojourners became soldiers. The aimless company became the
army of God. They laid aside the shovel they had used to
bury the daily quota of the dead and took up the conquering
sword. On the day the manna stopped they arrived into their
destiny and their identity.
There's so much more! It's so much better! A new testimony
even better than manna has begun. There awaits me the
purpose for which I began the journey. All enroute
experience will be superseded by the glorious reality
of fruitfulness and fullness. Manna is good but fullness
awaits us beyond the manna! Our God-provided and purposed
menu is about to change!
