Daughters of Zion; Excelling in all things

Text: Proverbs 31:29 “ Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all.”

Introduction

Zion: The word “Zion” means the Land of Israel and its capital Jerusalem:

It is also referred to the City of David. Therefore, we can relate it to ourselves as Daughters of God’s dwelling place or Daughters of God’s habitation.

“But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly” (Heb 12:22)

Zion symbolizes Jerusalem in Israel.  Freedom comes through acknowledging what holds us in bondage and breaking those chains.  Freedom is found through learning about God and His truths.  Freedom is in learning what GOD says about us rather than what other people have said or what we believe.  In learning about God and His truths, we learn who Jesus is, and that there is freedom in Him.  Freedom! O Daughter of Zion; may every woman be emotionally free to live the life that God intends for them to live.

It is a place of refuge, succor, restoration of hope, joy and peace; prosperity.

But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions (Obad 1:17).

“Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and peoples shall flow to it” (Micah 4:1).

Woman of excellence

To “excel” simply means to be superior; surpass, goodness, merit. It means A Virtuous Woman (Prov 31:10-31) (God-fearing), to be at the top level, distinct, stand out, shining or radiating the glory of God.

A Woman that flourishes, she is productive; fruitful in all things “she makes great things happen” This means she is highly regarded and important. She commands respect and she is honourable. Example, Deborah the Judge (Judges 4:9;14, Judges 5:1-9) She acknowledged God in her decisions. She exhibited courage (boldness) and power “A Woman of power” and God rewarded her with victory.

“Village life ceased, it ceased in Israel, until I, Deborah, arose, arose

A Mother in Israel” (Judges 5:7).

A Woman of excellence must aspire to the best she can be in any assignment (Godly calling or secular engagements such as career, business.)

A peculiar people, a chosen generation, a special people (1Pet 2:9)

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1Pet 2:9). Christ in us is the hope of glory.

A Woman that excels in all things is a child of God who recognizes that she has the greater one on the inside; she carries the exceeding power of God and grace of God.

The ability to exercise spiritual authority to claim our Godly inheritance

“Then God said, “Let Us make man in our image, according to our likeness; let them have dominion”… (Gen 1:26)

She carries the anointing of God (The unction of the Holy Spirit). This is the secret of excelling in all things.

For without God, we are nothing and can do nothing, but with God;

“I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me” Phill 4:13

Every Woman or Child of God has a divine purpose on earth to fulfill.

No man is an accident or mistake regardless of our origin or lineage.

The Almighty God is a master planner; He is the God of order and purpose.

He does not do things just for the fun of it, but for a reason that is worthy of His glory. God’s wisdom is unsearchable.

“Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, And the strength of salvation; The fear of the LORD is His treasure” (Isaiah 33:6).

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” (Jer 1:5).

We have been called to uproot all the gods of the land, the territorial spirits pull down all the altars, the Baals, the Dagons (1Sam 5:4); to establish the Kingdom of God i.e the excellent way of doing things according to God’s will.

It is God’s will for us, His Children or daughters of Zion to excel in all things.

Jesus is the first, so that we can follow His example to be the first in all things by allowing the Holy Spirit transform us into His express image.

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2Cor 3:18)
